Dance Stars: A Swiftie's Paradise Workshop

Taylor's biggest fans, our Dance Stars, get a week of all the things a "Swiftie" loves. Participants will dance, do some arts and crafts and have as much fun as they can handle!

Choreographers Workshop Beginner
Join us for a creative week as we study the art of choreography and explore the concepts of shading, levels, and formations. We will discuss choreographing to best highlight the skills of your dancers, the art of song selection as well as lighting design and costume selection. Students will have the opportunity to choregraph several pieces over the week for themselves andother workshop participants to perform in our end of the week Showcase.

The Science of Dance
Join us for a fun week of blending science and dance. We'll spend the morning crafting and conducting experiments related to physics, neuroscience, and physiology! Then in the afternoon we'll apply what we've learned to dance - balance, turns, jumps, and so much more! We'll also include some fun snacks and games! This week is great for all lovers of dance and science!

Tumbling: Defying Gravity!
Come defy gravity with us in this year's tumbling camp! Tumbling and acro-dance are just a few of the "wicked" skills you'll learn in this workshop. We'll round out the time with themed snacks and crafts. This interactive high energy experience will help participants develop hand eye coordination, team work skills, and improve self-esteem. The week culminates with an in-studio show for family and friends.

Summer Session of Evening classes, for ages 2 and up. Session begins the week of June 10 and will end August 6th

Tumbling Y/I-II (ages 7 +)
Unlike an acrobatics or gymnastic tumbling class, Tumbling for Dance is geared expressly towards developing basic skills such as forward rolls, hand stands, cartwheels, etc. and adding variations to allow for fluid transitions while dancing.

Kreative Kids 4-6
Kreative Kids 4-6 (KK4-6) is 1 hour class each week and includes a 1/2 hour ballet and a 1/2 hour tap. Ballet helps children gain coordination, grace and poise, muscle strength, alignment and posture, and team concepts. It is the foundation for all other dance forms. Most children love tap because in tap, dancer's feet create rhythmic sounds. Tap dancing is often high energy with upbeat music. Although these classes are starting to take the form of structured, classical classes, the ballet and tap technique is still taught in a fun, game-like atmosphere to increase interest and learning. Each class is based on the developmental trajectory of 4-6 year olds.

Prepointe/Pointe/Technique Intensive
This class is designed for students preparing to wear pointe shoes, those already wearing pointe shoes, and those wishing to improve their technique. Instructor evaluation/recommendation is required for registration.

Tap Y/ I-II (ages 7 - 11)
Tap is a style of dance characterized by using the sounds of tap shoes striking the floor as a form of percussion. Tap not only increases ankle dexterity and strength, but is good for dancer's musicality and rhythm. It is considered the most American of all dance forms. Our tap dancers work on learning basics, along with more complex, compound steps and choreography.

Dance Stars
Every child should have the opportunity to express themselves through dance. This 45-minute program provides a chance for children with special needs to explore movement through basic ballet, jazz and tap concepts. Students in this class gain strength and flexibility as well as learning short progressive movements and choreography.

Modern/ Lyrical I-II
Lyrical dance uses a combination of ballet and jazz techniques to tell the story of the lyrics through movement.
Modern is a free, expressive style of dancing started in the early 20th century as a rebellion against the formality and structure of ballet. It focuses on a dancer's own interpretations instead of structured steps, as in traditional ballet dancing. There is more dependence and use of gravity and a fall and swing feeling that gives modern a very fluid feeling.
This class is designed to expose students new to these styles strong foundations in both lyrical and modern throughout the season.
